Guests making fresh pasta together at a communal table in a candlelit wine bar

A Hands-On Culinary and Wine Experience

D² SUPPER CLUB× La Costa Wine Co.

Where the wine tells a story—and the guests help create the meal.

A proposed series of hands-on culinary and wine experiences led by Chefs Dawn Flaherty and Donna McKay, with pairings and wine education from La Costa Wine Co.

This is more than a cooking class. More than a tasting. And far more memorable than another traditional wine dinner.

Events that turn strangers into regulars—and regulars into friends.

Proposed exclusively for Triana Hinchey

An Opening Note

Triana,

La Costa Wine Co. already understands something we believe deeply: the best food and wine experiences are not about showing off what you know. They are about bringing people together.

Your brand makes wine approachable, social and rooted in the neighborhood. D² Supper Club brings that same spirit to food.

Together, we can create a recurring event series where guests do more than sit, sip and watch. They make something. They learn something. They laugh with people they may not have known when they arrived—and then sit down to enjoy the food and wine together.

Chefs Dawn and Donna lead the culinary experience, sharing the ingredients, techniques and history behind each dish. La Costa Wine Co. selects the wines, explains the pairings and gives guests a reason to discover a new bottle, return to the bar and become part of the wine-club community.

It feels like a natural fit.

D² Supper Club

The Big Idea

Not another wine dinner. A wine experience people help create.

Traditional wine dinners ask guests to sit down and receive the experience. D² Supper Club invites them into it.

Guests work together in small groups to make one approachable element of the menu—rolling pasta, shaping dough, balancing a sauce or finishing a seasonal dish. Chefs Dawn and Donna guide the process while sharing culinary techniques, ingredient knowledge and the cultural story behind the food.

La Costa Wine Co. introduces the featured wines and explains how acidity, tannin, body, region and winemaking style interact with the dish.

The evening ends around the table, where everyone enjoys what they helped create.

No résumé required. Just curiosity, a willingness to get your hands in the dough…and maybe a little thirst.

Why This Fits La Costa Wine Co.

Two brands with the same instinct about hospitality.

01

Wine Without Pretension

La Costa Wine Co. makes discovering good wine easy, compelling and fun. D² Supper Club approaches cooking the same way.

02

Real Community

Both brands believe that food and wine are at their best when they create conversation, connection and a sense of belonging.

03

Stories Worth Sharing

Every event gives guests the story behind both the plate and the glass—from culinary history and technique to vineyard, region and producer.

04

A Reason to Return

A rotating schedule of seasonal menus and pairings creates anticipation and encourages guests to come back with friends.

What Is in It for La Costa Wine Co.?

A recurring experience designed to grow the room—not just fill it.

Attract New Customers

D² Supper Club markets each event beyond La Costa Wine Co.'s existing audience, introducing local residents to the wine bar in a warm, memorable way.

Sell More Wine

The culinary ticket brings guests through the door. La Costa Wine Co. retains the opportunity to sell additional glasses, flights and bottles throughout the experience.

Grow Wine-Club Membership

Every event gives the staff a natural opportunity to introduce the wine club, its monthly selections, member pricing and VIP access to future dinners and tastings.

Create Meaningful Repeat Traffic

A successful guest does not simply attend one event. They return for the next menu, bring friends, purchase the featured wine and begin to see La Costa Wine Co. as their neighborhood gathering place.

Differentiate the Event Calendar

This offers something more engaging than a standard flight or seated pairing dinner: guests participate, learn and connect.

Activate Quieter Time Periods

Events can be scheduled during strategically selected lower-volume hours, creating incremental traffic without competing with the wine bar's strongest business periods.

Generate Content and Referrals

Hands-on pasta making is naturally visual and shareable. With guest permission, every event can create social content, word-of-mouth referrals and future-event interest.

Strengthen the Neighborhood Brand

The experience reinforces La Costa Wine Co.'s position as more than a retailer or bar—it becomes the place where the community gathers.

The event ticket gets them in the room. The experience gives them a reason to come back.

The Signature Pilot

Pasta & Pour

Handmade Fettuccine with Bolognese

Recommended as the first event because it is recognizable, social, photogenic and beginner-friendly.

Wine being poured at a warm neighborhood wine bar counter

The Experience

Guests learn how flour, eggs, hydration and technique become fresh pasta. Working in teams, they mix and knead dough, learn what properly developed dough feels like, roll it into sheets and cut fresh fettuccine.

Chefs Dawn and Donna demonstrate the building blocks of a properly balanced Bolognese and explain the history behind the dish.

La Costa Wine Co. selects the pairing and guides guests through how the wine's acidity, body and structure complement the richness of the sauce.

The Menu

  • Welcome taste or small seasonal bite
  • Handmade fettuccine
  • Slow-simmered Bolognese
  • Freshly grated Parmesan
  • Optional simple green salad
  • La Costa Wine Co. pairing

Keep the first event focused. The pasta is the star.

What Guests Learn

  • How fresh pasta dough is built
  • The role of flour, eggs and hydration
  • Proper kneading and resting
  • How to recognize correct dough texture
  • Rolling and cutting fettuccine
  • How a layered Bolognese develops flavor
  • Why the selected wine works with the dish

Suggested Event Description

Flour. Eggs. Wine. New Friends.

Let's give people something to do together—not just something to attend.

La Costa Wine Co. already creates the kind of room where people feel welcome, curious and connected.

D² Supper Club adds flour, eggs, technique and two chefs who know how to turn participation into confidence—and a room full of guests into a table full of new friends.

Together, we can create a recurring experience that brings new people through the door, gives regulars another reason to return and makes the wine even more memorable because of the story shared beside it.

The best glass is the one shared.
The best meal may be the one we create together.
